August was not quite as productive as past months because I’d taken nearly two weeks off from writing and the business of it; a break I occasionally need with my full time job. Having said that, I’m going to go easy on myself and choose to be pleased with what I did get accomplished. I think we all need to do that a little more. Yeah. Total trend setter here. 😉
I’ll be moving the items I did not complete to my September goals list below, and vow to get more writing done. I will, damn it!
If you set writing goals, I’d love to know what they are. Have a great September!
In honor of National Black Cat Appreciation Day, I want to introduce my favorite black cat in the world, Le Monsieur Henri, aka Mr. Fuzzy Face, who is also my muse for Skyler Sullivan’s black cat/familiar, Mordecai, in my book, Have Spirit Will Travel .
In 2009, Hubby Extraordinaire found this precious little love abandoned at a job site and brought him home to join our family. He was a blessings from the start.
He grew to have the soul of a warrior. We live in the country and one time when Henri, along with our pittie mix, Lilly, were both outside, they saw an armadillo sniffing around the yard. Henri and Lilly went at it from different angles, scared the poor thing to death, (did you know armadillos can jump 3 – 4 feet high? No shit!) and chased it out of the yard.
My boy is extremely warm hearted. Three years ago a tiny kitten showed up at our house and was hiding underneath an old building. Henri coaxed it out, and over to our porch. Not bad for a Tom cat, huh?
And of course, he always enjoys hanging out with his buddy, Buster, the other half of the yin yang duo
It pains me to know there are still people holding on to superstitions dating back to the 16th century when it comes to black cats. And because of that bias, these beautiful creatures are usually the last to be adopted in the shelters.
Please help spread awareness of how special these amazing felines are, and if you have room in your home, consider visiting your local shelter. You may just find you’ve been looking for a black cat all your life. The universe is funny that way.
Wishing many blessings come your way.
Happy Friday to all! It has been such a busy, yet exciting month. I published my first book, Have Spirit Will Travel, and the final prep and proofreading was both time consuming and stressful because I wanted everything to be, (oh I can see my sister cringing as she reads this sentence), perfect. I finally got over my neurotic self and remembered that perfection is an illusion. I’d done the best I could, and it was enough. And since I can’t overlook an opportunity for self promotion, you can find links to purchase my book by going to my “Home” page above. 😉
So in the month of July I managed to complete all 8 goals. (Cue the applause!) Type A much?
I will be taking a week or so off from the business of writing, so I’ll have fewer goals in August.
Wishing you a wonderful August.
Each year Hubby Extraordinaire puts out a gorgeous organic vegetable garden.
I love watching the plants go through their various stages of growth.
Sometimes they grow and develop so quickly I wonder if fairies sprinkle their dust in the night while we sleep.
Or maybe the gnomes are spreading their magical fertilizer. (A little known fact: Garden gnomes poop perlite)
He also grew lettuce and green onion, which is not shown. I can’t wait for harvest time!
Wishing you a wonderful summer day!
I’m so excited about this release, I am doing the full booty shaking happy dance. I sincerely hope you’ll enjoy reading Have Spirit Will Travel as much as I enjoyed writing it.
